Originally published in French in 1959, Hollywood Babylon is a collection of scandalous tales and stories from the golden age of Hollywood. Since his childhood, Anger began collecting newspaper clippings and photos surrounding the legends and the rumors. These often-untold stories, in which Anger left nothing to silence, became the basis for the book and quickly exposed Hollywood's best-kept secrets. Hollywood Babylon was banned in the US ten days after its initial release, but was republished after a decade of copyright conflicts in 1975. Hollywood Babylon II followed in 1984.
