Ten years after the first photographs taken by children belonging to the infamous shantytown Mathari in Nairobi, agnès b. is hosting the exhibition Shootback, being shown for the first time in France.
The American photographer Lana Wong started the Shootback project in August 1997: armed with simple plastic cameras, about thirty girls and boys photographed their daily life for almost two years. The result is at once harrowing, moving, funny and surprising!
The photographs and words of the Mathari children present overwhelming evidence of the photographer’s power to transform the everyday.
By hosting the exhibition Shootback, agnès b. is putting forward a certain idea of culture that is synonymous with sharing and generosity. -
