agnès b. opened her first art gallery on rue du Jour in 1984. At that time it was adjoigning the women store. In 1996 the Gallery moved to a bigger space but kept its name “La Galerie du Jour”. In 2001 a book store opened at the entrance of the gallery. The “Galerie Du Jour”, is a contemporary art gallery specializing in photography. Agnès b. shows from time to time the work of her grafitti artist friends…As well as organising collective exhibits (A New New York scene, Draw...) Sidibé, Mike Lash, Jonas Mekas, Harmony Korine, Robert Estermann, Pierre Reimer, Hughes Reip are some of the other artists associated with the gallery.
Jonas Mekas received the insignia of Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres at the French Embassy in New York on Tuesday, January 15. Represented by the Galerie du Jour agnès b. since 1996, Jonas Mekas also created the first issue of Point [... ]
