Jonas Mekas received the insignia of Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres at the French Embassy in New York on Tuesday, January 15. Represented by the Galerie du Jour agnès b. since 1996, Jonas Mekas also created the first issue of Point d’Ironie in May 1997. He received the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1992 and the Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2000. The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) is an Order of France, which purpose is the recognition of significant contributions to the arts, literature, or the propagation of these fields. The medal of Commandeur is only given to up to twenty recipients a year.
