For the hundredth anniversary of the birth of photographer Lucien Hervé, the agnès b. galerie du Jour is pleased to present the exhibition “he would have been a hundred and see how modern he is” from 3rd June to 24th July 2010. Lucien Hervé (1910-2007) was of Hungarian origin, and patiently built up one of th e great photographic masterpiece of the 20th century, combining formal elegance with rigorous focusing. The Galerie du Jour is exhibiting a series of prints, both period and modern, which enable us to cast a retrospective eye over the whole of his career, from his early photographs of people through to the final photographs of his Parisisn apartment, L’appartement – and in between these his experimental research in the 1960s and work with the architect Le Corbusier which he pursued until the latter’s death in 1965.
