- Special issue : Martin Parr

Martin Parr, born in 1952, lives in Bristol,
England. Known for his brilliant satire of
contemporary life, his documentary photographs
have been shown in major galleries and museums
worldwide. His most recent series, Common Sense,
retains Parr’s trademark sense of irony. A myriad
of close-up photographs reveal the beautiful and
ugly details of everyday life, which, shown together
and in relation to one another have a harrowing,
cumulative effect.
Focusing on anything from fast food, accessories,
body parts or money, they generate a new language
of using photography to represent the world.
For Point d’Ironie, Martin Parr chose sixty-five
images, inviting us to create our own version of
the Common Sense exhibition.
